Liverpool defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold

English defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has announced that he will be leaving Liverpool to join a new club at the end of the 2024/2025 season.

He explained that the decision was taken after thorough reflection on his career, as it would help him change environments and compete at a different level to bring out the best in himself.

The Liverpool defender noted that he has been with the team since childhood and has won most of the trophies in his career; however, he believes it’s time for him to move on, even though it won’t sit well with most of the fans.

“After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, I’ll be leaving at the end of the season. I think the decision for me is personal – to change environments and challenge myself elsewhere. It’s not about wanting to find something better; it’s about me and my personal journey as a player. And I feel like now is the right time for me to go and experience that.

“People won’t be happy with the decision, but it’s something that I feel like I need to do on my journey and in my career. The times I’ve had here, the memories, and the special moments are and will always be some of the best moments I’ll have in my life,” he said in a video that has gone viral on X.

Alexander-Arnold further stated that he would continue to support the club and love them, regardless of where he plays.

“The love I have for this club will never leave. It will never diminish. I’ll love it forever. I’ll forever be in debt to the club and the fans for everything you’ve done for me. I will always remain a Liverpool fan. I’m eternally grateful to everyone who’s helped me along the way,” he added.

Meanwhile, football transfer experts Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein have reported that the player is set to sign a new deal with Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Trent won Premier League titles, the Champions League, and other trophies with Liverpool during his stay.
