The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a heartbreaking late loss on the road against the Denver Broncos – and Brittany Mahomes did not take it well.
The Chiefs thought they had scored a game-winning touchdown pass after Patrick Mahomes found Rashee Rice in the end zone.
But lineman Jaylon Moore was penalized for a false start, forcing the Chiefs back to the six-yard line before Mahomes was sacked on fourth down, handing the Broncos a wild 28-24 win, and Kansas City’s second loss of the season.
Mahomes’ wife Brittany immediately launched a furious attack at the referees on social media to her 2.1 million followers.
‘You can’t tell me you call that on a game winning [touchdown],’ she wrote. ‘Oh wait yeah I can cause it’s us. That was the weakest call I have ever seen, you can’t tell me otherwise.’
But her argument against the officials has been quickly undermined by Travis Kelce honestly admitting they actually made the right call.

Travis Kelce has since admitted refs made the right call, undermining Mahomes’ complaints
In this week’s episode of the ‘New Heights’ podcast, brother Jason Kelce said: ‘A lot of people are saying this wasn’t a penalty; I’m going to go on record and say that this is definitely a penalty.’
Travis agreed, replying: ‘Yeah, he flinches’ before pointing out that they still had a chance to win the game that they didn’t take.
‘At the end of the day, we still had another play,’ Travis said. ‘I’ll take my guy Pat Mahomes on the six-yard line with the game on the line.
‘I’ll take that any day of the week. So we gotta execute at the end even more. We can’t let the penalty absolutely deflate us and not let us execute at the end of the game.’
Patrick Mahomes also shared a similar – albeit less direct – sentiment to his wife after the game, suggesting he did not agree with the call.
‘It couldn’t have been big, but it was called,’ Mahomes told reporters after the game.
‘At the end of the day, you have to go with whatever is called, but a lot of times in those big moments, the little stuff doesn’t get called like that.’
While Brittany Mahomes has suggested NFL officials are against the Chiefs this year, Justin Simmons has accused the franchise of ‘cheating’ ever since Mahomes arrived in the league.

Brittany Mahomes believes her husband’s team has received rough treatment so far this year
Retired safety Simmons, who spent nearly a decade with the Denver Broncos, insisted he has little sympathy with ‘delusional’ Chiefs fans.
There has long been a perception among some NFL fans that Kansas City is given favorable treatment by officials and on the latest episode of his podcast, The Last Line, he said: ‘Y’all been cheating the whole time you had Patrick Mahomes. Refs been cheating for y’all.’
Simmons continued: ‘I already have beef with Chiefs fans anyway – I don’t like y’all, y’all don’t like me. That’s cool. Not everybody is going to like you in life. I seen all on social media: ‘That wasn’t a false start! They called that on us! They hate us!’
The former safety also took aim at TV coverage of Mahomes in particular, claiming: ‘If you don’t think that’s not influencing, that these refs ain’t giving you some calls…’
He added: ‘My rant is at the Chiefs fans that are delusional enough to think that was not a false start. It was, y’all lost and y’all lost at the 1-yard line. Ha! I don’t feel bad for y’all.’
His co-host and ex-teammate, Kareem Jackson, compared the Chiefs to ‘the kid in the neighborhood who loses and they take their ball and they go home with it.’
