Stevens Institute of Technology, one of the USA’s top 100 universities, is in Ghana as part of an ambitious admissions drive in partnership with the globally renowned Nekotech Center of Excellence. This initiative, spearheaded by Nekotech’s Executive Chairperson, HE Rev. Dr. A.K. Ocansey, aims to provide African students with access to world-class education through groundbreaking funding opportunities.

The Stevens delegation arrived in West Africa on September 2, kicking off their engagement in Ghana with a meeting with the Minister of Education, Hon. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and a media briefing. After a successful stint in Liberia from December 2-4, Stevens returns to Ghana for major admissions drives at the Ga Mantse Palace on December 5 and the African Regent Hotel on December 6.

Through this partnership, Nekotech has secured $100 million for Ghanaian students and $25 million for Liberian students via no-collateral educational loans and partial scholarships. The program targets graduates aged 21-40 (25-40 for Liberia) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. These funds are expected to fully finance the education of qualified students in STEM, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and MBA programs for the Spring and Fall 2025 intakes.

In September 2024, symbolic checks for the allocated funds were handed over to government representatives of Ghana and Liberia during the Africa-US Presidential Forum on STEM, AI, and MBA, held at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. The forum also celebrated notable African leaders, including HE President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi and former President HE Dr. Joyce Banda, for their exceptional contributions to education and development in Africa.

“This is a transformative time for Ghana and Liberia, as Sierra Leonean and Malawian students have been reaping the benefits of this program since 2021,” said HE Rev. Dr. Ocansey. “We are excited to extend this opportunity to more African nations, with several presidents on the waiting list to join the Africa-US Presidential Forum.”

In Ghana, the $100 million funding was officially received on behalf of the government by the National Service Authority’s Director-General, underscoring the Ministry of Education’s commitment to advancing educational opportunities.

Stevens Institute of Technology, with a legacy spanning over 150 years, and Nekotech, celebrating 25 years of excellence, are united in their mission to empower African students to excel in the global arena of STEM, AI, and business administration.

Students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply for this life-changing program.
