Undefeated Super-Lightweight contender Ernesto “Tito” Mercado (17-0, 16 KOs) returns to the ring on Friday, December 13, to challenge 32-year-old Mexican boxer Antonio Moran (31-7-1, 21 KOs) for the WBO International Super-Lightweight Title at the Adventist Health Arena in Stockton, California. The 23-year-old Pomona, CA native will appear as part of Matchroom Boxing’s year-end event, streaming live worldwide on DAZN, featuring Diego Pacheco vs. Kevin Lele Sadjo and Gabriel Flores Jr. vs. Joe Cordina.

This marks Mercado’s second bout under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing banner and a major step toward his goal of becoming a world champion in 2026. After recovering from an injury that kept him out earlier this year, Mercado is determined to make a statement as he looks to extend his six-fight knockout streak, which includes a dominant win over former World Champion José Pedraza in Las Vegas.

“I approach every fight as the most important one of my career,” said Mercado. “This fight is special; with the WBO International belt on the line, I’m one step closer to making my dream of becoming a world champion a reality.”

Training under his father, Ernesto Mercado Sr., in Pomona, Tito has been putting in the work to return stronger than ever.

“We’ve been preparing very hard for this fight— sparring with partners who have a similar style to Moran, and fine-tuning every detail,” said Mercado. “Fans should always expect a KO from a Tito Mercado fight. I envision fans clenching their teeth and jumping out of their seats from every devastating blow I land—and believe me, they will be devastating.”

For Mercado, December 13 is more than a comeback—it’s the close of a challenging year and the launch of his 2026 title campaign.

“2025 started off great, but my injury set me back,” said Mercado. “Now I’m looking to give fans a fight they’ll remember—maybe even ‘KO of the year. ‘ I’m going to end 2025 in style and welcome 2026 with a chance to capture my first world championship. Right now, I’m focused on Moran and getting this belt. From there, I definitely want to take the WBO title from the delusional Teofimo Lopez.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn praised Mercado’s drive and determination:
“It’s great to have Tito back in the ring in Stockton. He’s had to sit on the sidelines with injury, but I know that he’s itching to get back in there and remind the 140lb division that he’s coming for all the smoke in 2026. Tito is an ambitious and driven talent, and on December 13, he’s looking to make a big statement against the always-game Moran to close the year in style and build momentum for what promises to be a massive year for him.”
