Titans chief Burke Nihill has publicly apologized to Tennessee fans for the ‘grief’ caused by another dismal start to the NFL season.

But despite five straight losses, the Titans CEO is backing first-year head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Mike Borgonzi to turn the ship around.

Tennessee is one of three teams still searching for a first win of the season – alongside the Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Dolphins – with Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts standing between the Titans and an 0-6 start.

They have have won just three games since Borgonzi took over as GM ahead of the 2025 season – and only six since 2024.

‘The first thing I would say back to the fans is just that we’re sorry,’ Nihill told ESPN.  ‘There’s nobody in this building that doesn’t feel… a sense of grief about it, because not only are we fans of the team as well, but we feel the sense of responsibility to deliver. And we’ve let our fans down because football is supposed to be fun.’

Despite the Titans’ early struggles, Nihill insists he ‘feels a sense of stability’ about the leadership of the team. The CEO is also certain that better days lie ahead.

‘The train is on the tracks. It just hasn’t picked up momentum, but it will,’ Nihill (right) said

‘I believe that Mike Borgonzi and Robert Saleh are ultimately going to get this team out of the woods and restore it to competitive football. The train is on the tracks. It just hasn’t picked up momentum, but it will.’

Nihill added: ‘I can confidently say this organization is in a place where there is organizational belief in Mike, in Robert, and they absolutely have all the support they need to get this train moving and moving faster.’

His confidence was echoed by Saleh, the former New York Jets head coach, who promised: ‘When I tell you guys that the sun is going to shine on this organization eventually, it’s going to shine.’

The Titans offense led by quarterback Cam Ward – the No 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft – has struggled so far this season.

But the head coach continued: ‘We’re going through a lot of adversity… but if we capture it the right way, we’re going to find a lot of growth.’
