Former world champion and Australian superstar Tim Tszyu and undefeated challenger Denis Nurja previewed their pivotal showdown during Thursday’s final press conference before they headline PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Video action this Saturday, April 4 (U.S. date and time) from the WIN Entertainment Centre.

The event will begin at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, with the action streaming exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States. Join today or start a free 30-day trial to catch the card.

Prime Video action will feature five fights in total, including a duel of top super bantamweight contenders as Australia’s Sam Goodman takes on Argentina’s Rodrigo Ruiz in a 12-round IBF 122-Pound Title Eliminator in the co-main event.

Plus, Rugby star turned aspiring heavyweight contender Nelson Asofa Solomona steps in against Jarrod Wallace in a bout scheduled for four rounds, while undefeated 2024 Australian Olympian Callum Peters will put his perfect record on the line against fellow unbeaten Delio Mouzinho in eight rounds of middleweight action. Kicking off the card is rising Australian Olympian Paulo Aokuso battling veteran Thai contender Kittipong Jian Hao Ho in a 10-round light heavyweight affair.

The event is promoted by No Limit Boxing and The Rose Brothers, in association with TGB Promotions.

Here is what the press conference participants had to say Thursday:

TIM TSZYU

“This is the rise. I feel like I did fall apart. I am putting the wheels back in motion and I’m coming and I’m gunning straight back to that No.1 spot and whoever is in the way of that, they’re in danger.

“I always just put it all on the line and I’m just confident in myself. So, look, of course everything’s a risk. But you’ve got to put it all on the line. We’re in this sport for a short, minimal amount of time and you’ve just got to make the most of every opportunity.

“I’ve changed myself to a certain extent, but I just can’t wait to get in there and bang on, let the dog come out. All of them watch the Bakhram fight. I sleep with my right hand on my chin. I’m well aware that’s what they are thinking. Throwing the left hook. They think it’s my kryptonite. I just want to point it out. I’m very well aware of it.”

DENIS NURJA

“I’ve trained really hard. I have a lot of respect for Tim, but I’ve come here to win. I’m used to people talking. I don’t care what they say because I live in the present.

“We’ll see what happens on Sunday. The win would be a massive step in my career. It would be the culmination of 20 years of training, 20 years of sacrifice. Such a gift for me.”

SAM GOODMAN

“There’s zero chance he’s coming to my hometown and taking it from me. This is my chance to get back to the top and man, I’m going to take everything from him.

“He’s a strong fighter but look, there’s levels. On the day I’m going to show I’m the better fighter. I don’t want to talk about what’s next as this fight has been flying under the radar a bit. After I punch his head in, we can talk about what’s next. I’m looking forward to it and looking forward to taking everything from him.”

RODRIGO RUIZ

“I think Sam Goodman is a really good boxer. He’s not an easy opponent to fight and I’m coming for a knockout. I mean it’s not easy, nothing is, especially when trying for a knockout, but I’ve come to get that result.”

NELSON ASOFA-SOLOMONA

“He must have had some sort of script in his pocket, but it was really good. I was really surprised, it threw me off guard but it was something I couldn’t really reply to. There’s too much collateral damage. But good on him, touché, but on fight night he has to pay for that.”

JARROD WALLACE

“He’s big, but there’s plenty of flaws. (Nelson’s former rugby coach) Craig Bellamy saw them, that’s why they sacked him. He had an impressive fight against Jeremy Latimore, but I’m going to take him into deep waters and throw bombs. He’s walking around like Tim Tszyu. He gets off a private jet. Don’t discount me.”

CALLUM PETERS

“It’s going to be a good fight. He’s a good knockout puncher and I’ve watched a bit of his fights. These good fights are going to be putting myself out there in the pros. There’s going to be a lot of punches, there’s going to be a lot of shots and it’s going to be a hard day.”

PAULO AOKUSO

“I’ve had a good look at him. He’s got a good record, 13 wins, 12 knockouts. These are the opponents I go for. But at the end of the day, I’ll show how easy these international fighters are.

“The last time I was on a Tim Tszyu card I put on a performance and I’m ready to do it again. I’m taking him out for sure.

On a potential fight with fellow unbeaten Australian Kirra Ruston, “100 per cent I would take that fight any time. The fights that I’ve been having, I feel like Kirra Ruston has fought nowhere near the level that I’ve fought. I feel like it would be a big step for him and I feel like it would be a big fight for Australia.”
