Despite swirling rumours of his imminent departure from Arsenal, Thomas Partey has been spotted in Spain alongside several of his teammates, sparking intrigue among fans about the midfielder’s next move.
The team is in La Manga in Murcia, Spain, for a five-day training camp as part of their pre-season preparations, following a stint back at the Sobha Realty Training Centre. There will be no public matches during the camp.
Photos from the trip, shared on Instagram by defender Gabriel Magalhães, featured a smiling Partey with the caption: “My guy”, a gesture that seemed to signal respect and camaraderie amid uncertainty surrounding the Ghanaian’s future.”
This development comes just days after widespread reports confirmed that Partey is set to leave Arsenal at the end of June, bringing an end to his four-year stint in North London.
The 30-year-old is expected to depart as a free agent after contract extension talks with the club stalled, leaving the door open for suitors, with clubs from Saudi Arabia said to be leading the chase for his signature.
Partey joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in 2020 for £45 million and quickly became a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s midfield.
Though injuries interrupted significant stretches of his time at the Emirates, his composure, tactical intelligence, and physical dominance in the centre of the park were never in doubt.
His presence in Spain with the current Arsenal squad suggests there is no bad blood between player and the club.
If anything, it points to a respectful conclusion to what was, at times, a turbulent yet impactful chapter for Arsenal.
