Medeama SC midfielder Salim Adams has urged his teammates to stay grounded after their decisive win over Bibiani GoldStars in match-week 31 of the Ghana Premier League.
The clash at the TnA Stadium lived up to expectations, as the top two sides on the table went head-to-head in what was arguably the biggest fixture of the round.
Adams, was the difference-maker, scoring twice before half-time, first from the penalty spot and then with a stunning free-kick to give the Mauve and Yellows a comfortable lead heading into the break.
The Miners returned with renewed energy in the second half and tried to force their way back into the game, but Medeama remained disciplined and saw out the contest to secure a vital victory.
The win has opened a five-point lead at the top for Medeama, strengthening their grip on the title race with few games remaining.
Reflecting on the performance, the lanky middleman described the encounter as a defining moment in their campaign while maintaining that the job is not yet done.
“This was like a final before a final. If we had failed to win this match, all the work we had put in since the start of the season would have gone to waste,”
Medeama SC will now quickly shift focus to their next challenge against Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday, May 6, at the Golden City Park.
