Ghanaian media personality, Bridget Otoo, has expressed excitement following President John Dramani Mahama’s act of removing Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare and replacing him with COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

In a post shared on X on March 14, 2024, Bridget Otoo noted that she is pleased with what she described as the early retirement of George Akuffo Dampare.

She stated that the former IGP had endured immense suffering, adding that his removal is in his best interest.

“I’m happy. This man has suffered for such a long time!” she said.

On March 13, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama, through a press statement signed by Felix Ofosu Kwakye, the Minister of Government Communications, officially appointed COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new IGP.

“President John Dramani Mahama, by Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State, has appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the Inspector-General of Police. He replaces COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare,” the statement read.

It further stated, “COP Yohuno brings forty years of experience to the position of IGP and is expected to oversee the modernization and transformation of the Ghana Police Service.”
