Media personality Bridget Otoo has expressed disappointment in the NPP MPs on the Parliament Appointments Committee after tensions escalated over the vetting of some minister-designates.

In a post shared on X on January 30, 2025, Bridget Otoo criticised the “drama” between the two caucuses of Parliament, labeling it uncalled for and embarrassing to Ghana’s democracy.

She also raised concerns about the presence of police during the scuffle between Members of Parliament, stating that it was unnecessary.

“Omg. This is so embarrassing and very silly. It makes zero sense, protecting Parliament from parliamentarians?” she said.

She further commented on the lengthy questioning of Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation-designate, Sam George, by Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin.

This act, she labeled as a complete display of ego.

Tensions escalated on January 30, 2025, during the vetting of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Minister of Health-designate, and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs-designate.

The Majority MPs on the Appointments Committee insisted on continuing the vetting session beyond 10 PM, but the Minority strongly opposed it.

The clash led to a physical altercation between MPs, with some equipment being damaged during the scuffle.
