Media personality Genevieve Abrefa Yeboah, popularly known as Oheneni Adazoa, has shared a humiliating experience she endured while attempting to adopt a child in Ghana.

In a discussion on her show, shared on Instagram on September 17, 2025, Oheneni recounted how her desire to adopt a child was discouraged after she was mocked by a Social Welfare officer.

Narrating her ordeal, Oheneni said the worker at the Ashanti Region Social Welfare mocked her for making inquiries about the adoption process.

“After our first Women of Faith conference, we donated a large sum of money to an orphanage home in Kumasi. A video of the donation went viral, showing one of the kids standing beside me.

“TikTokers commented that the child resembled me and suggested I adopt her. I contacted the orphanage, and they directed me to Social Welfare. But when I called them, the man who answered the phone started laughing the moment he heard my voice,” She said.

She added, “He told me everything sounded funny after watching Delay’s interview. After explaining the whole thing, he still laughed at me.

Oheneni further disclosed that the Social Welfare officer even made disheartening comments about the children at the orphanage.

“He even told me that the kids at the orphanage are not calm. Moreover, they all have families who have deliberately brought them to the place. So even if I adopt one, I will be wasting my time and money, because in the long run, their family will still come for them. From that time, I have decided not to send any money to that place or adopt,” she added.

Due to the humiliation she experienced, Oheneni Adazoa stated that she has made the difficult decision to no longer support orphanages in Ghana, either through donations or adoption.

“From that time, I have decided not to send any money to that place or adopt,” she stated.
