Outgoing Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has made a bold claim, accusing “the establishment” within his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), of actively working against him.

Speaking during an appearance on The Key Points with Alfred Ocansey on December 14, 2024, Appiah-Kubi expressed his frustrations about the internal opposition he faced within the party.

Appiah-Kubi, who was part of the NPP’s leadership, noted, “The establishment within my own party made things difficult for me. It was clear they didn’t want me to succeed.”

He elaborated, revealing how certain individuals within the party seemed intent on undermining his efforts, especially during the lead-up to the 2024 elections.

His comments come on the heels of the NPP’s crushing defeat in the elections, where the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regained power with a remarkable victory margin of over 1.6 million votes, along with securing 185 parliamentary seats.

Reflecting on the results, Appiah-Kubi remarked, “The defeat is a reflection of many factors, but one of the biggest reasons was the internal sabotage. The people that should have supported us were the ones working against us.”

After the December 2024 polls, there have been security concerns across the country. Catch Etsey Atisu’s interview with security analyst, Adib Saani, on Election Desk on GhanaWeb TV below:
