As required by the Accra High Court, the Electoral Commission (EC) has started declaring the winners of nine contested parliamentary constituencies after a recollection of the results. These are the results that have been confirmed thus far:

    1. The Ashanti Region’s Obuasi East Constituency The incumbent member of parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Patrick Boakye-Yiadom, narrowly won his seat back. He received 18,558 votes, just enough to defeat National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Samuel Aboagye, who received 18,539 votes. Adjei Owusu Afriyie, an independent, garnered 424 votes. The results were announced in Accra by Frederick Mensah, the Returning Officer.

    2. The Eastern Region’s Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency After a recall process at the Greater Accra Regional Electoral Commission headquarters in Ridge, incumbent NPP MP Mr. Frank Annoh-Dompreh was able to hold onto his seat. With 29,640 votes, he defeated NDC candidate Fummey Philibert, who received 29,433 votes.

    3. The Greater Accra Region’s Tema Central Constituency With 18,870 votes, Mr. Charles Forson of the NPP won the election. The NDC’s Ebi Bright, who was previously proclaimed the victor, received 18,815 votes. Fredrick Aniagyei, an independent, received 229 votes.

    4. NPP member Nana Agyemang Prempeh held onto his seat in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency (Ashanti Region) by a slim margin of 121 votes. He defeated Kwasi Adusei of the NDC, who received 20,232 votes, with 20,353 votes.

    5. The NPP’s Mr. Patrick Yaw Boamah was able to hold onto his seat in the Okaikwei Central Constituency (Greater Accra Region). With 21,099 votes, he defeated his only opponent, NDC candidate Abdulai Abu Baba Abubakar Sadiq, who received 19,368 votes.

The close contests in a number of constituencies are highlighted by these results, which demonstrate the high stakes and fierce rivalry in Ghana’s parliamentary elections in 2024. In the next few days, the final outcomes for the other constituencies should be known.
