Kaywa believes some love songs have the power to heal marriages Kaywa believes some love songs have the power to heal marriages

Popular Ghanaian music producer Kaywa has said he sees nothing wrong with gospel musicians venturing into other genres, such as love songs.

In an interview with Joy Prime on July 24, 2025, Kaywa, whose real name is David Kojo Kyei, stated that as long as the lyrical content is good enough, such songs tend to ‘heal’ marriages.

“I remember saying this, even with gospel or Christian musicians, there is nothing wrong with a Christian musician deciding to do a love song. It all depends on the lyrics, that is, the content.

“We have a lot of Christian musicians who are married, and they have to hear good music that can heal marriages,” he said.

To buttress his point, Kaywa recounted a time when he ran into someone at a shop in the United Kingdom, who told me that a song I produced helped to save his marriage from collapse.

“I remember sometime in the past when I was at a shop in London and somebody approached me over a song I helped produce. He told me ‘That song saved my life, my wife was leaving me. She was packing up to leave the house, and I just kept playing the song over and over again. Suddenly, she changed her mind and stayed. We are still married till now.’

“That person told me to take whatever I wanted; he would pay for it. That day I shopped good,” he said.
