Kumawood actor, Kwaku Manu, has shed light on some of the challenges within the movie industry.

According to him, there is “no unity” among actors in the industry.

His comments come following the funeral of popular actor and skit maker, C Confion, who passed away in December 2024.

His funeral, held on January 11, saw many celebrities and personalities in attendance, even as they interacted with each other.

This led many fans to believe that love had returned to the industry once more.

However, Kwaku Manu, speaking in an interview on Fakye Showbiz, claimed that all is still not well in the industry.

According to him, such interactions were just put up due to the funeral.

“We are workers, not friends. When we are done working, each and everyone has his or her friend. We are not normally united like this. You are only seeing us smiling and interacting with each other like this because someone is dead,” he said.

Manu also stated that he was sidelined for four years due to ongoing issues in the industry.

He criticised the industry’s financial practices, noting that the money meant for paying big actors is often distributed among the newly famed actors instead.

This, he argued, undermines the contributions of long-standing actors and affects their livelihoods.

“When the industry got Kwaku Manu, they got apostle John Pra and they got Akrobeto. When you feature all these actors, people would want to watch so it would favour the producers.

“But what they do is that the money they are supposed to use to pay the big actors, they would rather share it among the new famed actors,” he claimed.
