A former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has called on the government to expedite the rollout of the 24-Hour Economy, arguing that Ghana already has sufficient foundations to begin implementation.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on January 19, 2026, Ofosu Nkansah emphasised that a government term lasts only four years, and with one year already gone, prolonged delays are costly.

“The world is not waiting for us,” he stated, urging authorities to deploy suitable Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions immediately, and refine them along the way rather than waiting for perfection.

He cited the example of electric buses currently operating under Metro Mass Transit, noting that despite being imported just before the previous administration left office, they are already in use because basic charging infrastructure exists.

He suggested that establishing additional charging stations or power banks within a year is feasible if there is political will.

Rejecting the notion that systems must be perfect before launching, Ofosu Nkansah likened the situation to the Free Senior High School policy, which benefited thousands of students despite initial imperfections.

Kofi Nkansah also referenced China and the Asian tiger economies, highlighting how flawed products and policies were continuously improved to achieve global success.

He warned that excessive feasibility studies, stakeholder engagements, consultations, and foreign study tours could unnecessarily consume valuable time needed for implementation.
