Prince Al Waleed bin Khaled Al Saud, affectionately known by many as “The Sleeping Prince,” has passed away at the age of 35, after spending two decades in a coma.

Prince Al Waleed was only 15 years old in 2005 when a tragic car accident in London left him in a coma. Despite the odds, his family never gave up hope, choosing to care for him at a specialized medical facility in Saudi Arabia and remaining steadfast in their love and belief that he might one day awaken.

Over the years, the royal family periodically shared updates about his condition, and the public around the world came to know and sympathize with his story. Videos showing his slight physical reactions to certain stimuli offered brief glimmers of hope, and his father’s devotion became a symbol of enduring love and faith.

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, confirmed on social media that Al Waleed had peacefully passed away, finally finding rest after 20 years suspended between life and death.

His passing has drawn an outpouring of grief from around the world, with many paying tribute to his strength and his family’s unwavering commitment to his care.

“Twenty years of bedside vigils, of wondering ‘what if,’ of hope held tight against the odds. Now, our Sleeping Prince is finally at peace,” a family statement read.

Prince Al Waleed bin Khaled Al Saud (1990–2025) will be remembered not only as a royal, but as a young man whose story touched millions — a symbol of hope, resilience, and the power of love.

May he rest in peace.
