Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong has shared heartfelt reflections on the enduring legacy of the late gospel icon Yaw Sarpong, including how he was blessed in his music career due to the late artiste.

Speaking to ZionFelix during a candlelight vigil held as part of the one-week observance for Yaw Sarpong in Kumasi, Acheampong described the late singer as a “super legend” whose impact on Ghana’s music scene went far beyond his passing.

“I always admired him growing up, and I used to pray that I would get the chance to meet him. And thanks be to God, I got to meet him,” he said.

Acheampong also credited Sarpong with shaping his musical journey.

He revealed that upon entering the industry, he made sacrifices in honour of the gospel legend.

“When I came into the industry, I made some sacrifices for him; due to these sacrifices, my music career is doing well,” he said.

Highlighting Sarpong’s influence, Acheampong noted how Sarpong’s work inspired many artistes and expanded the reach of gospel music across the country.

Fellow musicians and industry figures joined Acheampong at the vigil to celebrate Sarpong’s life and contributions, reflecting a deep respect for the veteran artiste whose ministry spanned decades and left an indelible mark on Ghana’s cultural and spiritual landscape.
