Veteran football administrator Fred Pappoe has emphasized the importance of a management committee for the Black Stars.
In an interview with Pure FM, he highlighted that the committee is essential because it is responsible for the organization, planning, travel, accommodation, logistics, counselling, and serving as a liaison between the team, the GFA, and the sports ministry to a large extent.
He noted that many people doubt the relevance of the Black Stars management committee due to the underperformance of other committees.
“Take a deep look at the functions of a well-functioning management committee, and you will realize that they are absolutely crucial to the running of our national team and the success of our game.”
“I think people tend to have doubts when they look at some committees that are not very functional or are not performing well.”
He went on to list the duties of the management committee before stressing the importance of committed individuals serving on such committees.
“I believe the duties of the management committee include organizing and planning, handling travel, accommodation, logistics, and counseling, acting as an effective support system for the players and coaching staff, and serving as a strong link between the team, the GFA, and the ministry to some extent. So if we are serious, we need committed people to take on these responsibilities.”
Fred Pappoe’s explanation of the role of the management committee comes in response to the appointment of a new Black Stars management committee in 2025.
The appointees include Dr. Randy Abbey as the committee chairman, Stephen Appiah as the vice chairman, and members Samuel Aboabire, Richard Nsenkyire, and Moses Armah.
