Ghana international Inaki Williams was left disappointed on Tuesday night September 16, 2025, following Athletic Club’s defeat to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.

The Black Stars striker captained the La Liga outfit on the night and hoped his team would secure victory to begin the Champions League campaign on a positive note.

Despite a bright start to the game, Athletic Club could not find the back of the net, with Arsenal scoring through Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard in the second half to earn all three points.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Inaki Williams acknowledged the quality in the Arsenal team but shared that he believes the result was not a true reflection of the contest.

“The result doesn’t reflect the game; we played well. Arsenal is one of the favourites in this competition; we fought and gave it our all,” Inaki Williams said.

After the defeat to Arsenal, Inaki and his Athletic Club teammates will now turn attention to La Liga and prepare for their next match against Valencia on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
