Temi Otedola, daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, has explained why she chose to adopt her husband, Mr Eazi’s surname on social media, a move many people thought she would never make, given her father’s well-known name.

In an interview with BBC News Pidgin, Temi said the decision felt natural once she got married and that the decision was based purely on personal choice.

Temi Otedola explains why she said ‘Yes’ to Mr Eazi

“To be honest, it wasn’t something I had thought about before. But when I became a married woman, the obvious thing for me was to take my husband’s name.

“It’s my personal choice, and I respect everyone’s choice. It’s what I’m comfortable and happy doing, but I also respect a woman’s ability to choose for herself,” she said.

She also spoke about her father, who has often shared that he never had the chance to complete formal education.

Temi described him as someone who gained knowledge from real life rather than from a classroom.

“My father is one of those people for whom life and experience became his school. He never completed formal schooling, but he’s a testament that learning doesn’t only happen in classrooms. My sisters and all did our master’s degrees, but for him, real life was the best teacher,” she added.

“What made you say YES to Mr. Eazi?”
