Sarkodie’s Rapperholic concert, held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on September 27, 2025, was nearly derailed due to challenges with the National Sports Authority (NSA), according to the organisers.

Event organiser Nabil Alhassan of Event Factory Ghana revealed that preparations for the show were significantly hampered by restrictions and delays imposed by the NSA.

He disclosed that his team arrived in Kumasi on Monday, September 22, 2025, to begin setting up but were only allowed to start work on Thursday, September 25, 2025 after several days of back-and-forth with the Authority.

He added that if the NSA intends to open its facilities for concerts, then officials must work closely with event organisers to find solutions rather than creating hurdles.

“The venue was one of the challenges we faced. The National Sports Authority, I don’t think they are there yet. If you don’t want to rent your facility out for a concert like this, then don’t rent it at all. You are there to do business, and I think they should be able to liaise with event organisers to reach an amicable solution if they truly want to host events at their venues.

“The challenge has been overwhelming, because if you do this, they say you can’t do that, which makes it difficult for us. We were in Kumasi on Monday but couldn’t set up until Thursday. Why? Because it was all back and forth,” Nabil stated in an interview with MX24 TV.

He said the concert also faced other setbacks, including a temporary power cut and restrictions on the use of space.

Despite this, thousands of fans filled the stadium and stayed through the rain to enjoy performances from Sarkodie and other acts.

Meanwhile, Sarkodie has acknowledged the challenges while expressing gratitude to fans for their support.

“Thank you, Kumasi, for showing up. We know some things didn’t go well. Yes, it rained, and other things went wrong as well. But it’s our first time and we have taken note. Next time we will do it better,” Sarkodie said.
