Ghanaian singer Gyakie has stated that the music industry has turned her from a lively, outgoing person into an introvert.

In a video shared by Villa Official, the “Forever” hitmaker explained that while she was once very lively and loved being out in public, the constant scrutiny from cameras and bloggers has made her cautious about how she carries herself.

People don’t enjoy shows anymore, they attend to find faults – Gyakie

According to her, the fear of being misrepresented or going viral for the wrong reasons has forced her to prefer staying indoors.

She noted that being outside no longer feels the same as it used to, because social spaces are now filled with people ready to record every move.

The ‘songbird’ mentioned that her home has become her safe haven, where she can relax and feel comfortable without fear of judgment.

The singer also looked back on how the industry has taken away some of the joy she once felt in public settings, making her feel like she always has to act perfectly whenever she steps out.

“The music industry has made me an introvert. I used to be popping outside, I used to love going out. But it’s scary outside now. The next thing you know, you’re trending. So since there’s no trouble in my house, I prefer to stay at home, where I’m surrounded by people I feel comfortable with.

“I feel like back in the day, outside and the internet used to be so fun. Right now it’s very toxic, very hostile. Everybody’s pissed off. You go outside, even to events, and there are bloggers and cameras everywhere. You always have to be extra careful with everything you do, and that stresses me out.

“Because you go outside and you have to be a robot. If I sat down right now like this and I was, you know, like somebody would be like, ‘Why is she itching?’ I’m a human being.

“Sometimes you’re not allowed to be human because any random thing you do could end up online. You might even forget yourself and do something natural, but before you know it, someone has pulled out their phone and started recording,” Gyakie said.
