Renowned Ghanaian actor and producer Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin

Renowned Ghanaian actor and producer Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin has shared a captivating behind-the-scenes story about his latest movie, A Country Called Ghana.

In an interview with Kwame Tanko on Lawson FM, LilWin revealed that Nigerian superstar Ramsey Nouah’s involvement in the project was a spur-of-the-moment decision that arose from an unexpected setback.

Initially, the plan was to feature Ghanaian actor Van Vicker in a prominent role, but things didn’t go as expected. “Let me be honest,” LilWin said.

“The original idea was to have Van Vicker star in the movie, but he disappointed us at the very last minute. That’s when we had to pivot quickly and reach out to Ramsey Nouah.”

The decision to bring Ramsey Nouah on board wasn’t without challenges, especially financially. LilWin disclosed that securing the celebrated Nigerian actor came at a steep cost.

“I had to pay him an amount that could probably cover the fees for all the stars in Ghana combined—and there would still be some balance left over!”

Despite the expense, Lilwin remained firm that the decision was worth it. “Ramsey brought something extraordinary to the project, and his presence elevated the production beyond what we initially envisioned,” he noted.

The movie itself, A Country Called Ghana, is a powerful cinematic piece exploring themes of patriotism, resilience, and identity.

It tells the story of individuals navigating the complexities of modern-day Ghana while striving to preserve their cultural heritage.

The film features a stellar cast that includes Kwadwo Nkansah, Ramsey Nouah, Charles Awurum, Victor Osuagwu, Omar Krupp, Paa George, Afriyie Forson and other notable Ghanaian and Nigerian actors, blending humour, drama, and a strong message of unity and progress.
