Ghanaian entrepreneur and cultural ambassador Hamamat Montia has revealed that the traditional massage given to American YouTuber IShowSpeed during his visit to Ghana was rooted in ancient African customs.

Speaking in an interview with Anita Akuffo on February 25, 2026, Hamamat described the moment as surreal and a proud opportunity to showcase Ghanaian heritage to a global audience.

“Going back to that day still feels like a dream. When I heard IShowSpeed was coming to Ghana and the museum was one of the important stops for him, I love to teach the tradition so this was an opportunity to teach the world about our tradition,” she said.

She said her passion for promoting African culture was the driving force behind the experience.

“I started my whole social media thing because I wanted to teach my children and make them proud of African heritage. Hearing it’s IShowSpeed coming, I felt it’s millions of people walking into our museum at that time,” she explained.

Hamamat emphasised that the experience was not merely about promoting products but about creating a lasting cultural memory.

“It was not just about selling shea butter, but giving him an experience he can’t forget,” she shared.

She further disclosed that the massage given to the popular streamer was a traditional African massage that dates back centuries.

“The massage we gave him was a traditional African massage. It has been in our tradition for centuries. This is how they massage warriors, kings and queens so he definitely had an experience,” she added.
