Ghanaian rapper Kwaw Kese has opened up about why he often keeps his distance from entertainment events and other artistes’ performances.
Speaking on Hitz FM, the hiplife artiste explained that his absence from most industry gatherings is intentional, rooted in his experiences with colleagues who only show false support in public.
Kwaw Kese recalled organizing his own concert and inviting several artistes he had previously backed at their shows. To his disappointment, none of them showed up. Instead, that same night, many attended a different event hosted by a younger musician.
He said the incident confirmed his long-held belief that the industry lacks genuine friendship and loyalty. According to him, many people in the entertainment space smile and act cordial but hold negative feelings behind the scenes.

“People that I have shown love to multiple times on their stages did not show up. But that same night, there was another show somewhere, a Gen Z was having a show, and they showed up for the Gen Z,” he said.
Kwaw Kese added that he avoids such spaces because he refuses to pretend or maintain fake relationships.
“I am not a pretender. I’m not the type who will come and smile with you while something else is going on in my head. So, when pretenders meet, I don’t go there. The industry is full of fake people. They’ll see you today, smile with you, but behind you, there’s a lot going on,” he stated.
