Ghanaian Hiplife artiste, Obibini

Ghanaian Hiplife artiste, Obibini, has once again stirred controversy by accusing Ghana’s creative scene of being orchestrated by an industry “cabal.”

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on October 2, 2025, the rapper asserted that there are essentially two industries, one made up of his loyal fans and another, the formal “industry,” which he believes is manipulated by unseen forces that determine who receives recognition and awards.

He explained that despite his long presence in the music space, the accolades he deserves have eluded him.

“I have always believed that there is some sort of cabal running the industry. I feel like there is that industry, and there is my industry. My industry is the fans who support me every day. The industry is fake. I don’t know what they want to see in an artiste before they give him his due.

“It’s not like I am jealous of someone. I just want what is mine. And these people don’t want that happening,” he said.

The rapper has only been nominated twice at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards in the Best Rap Performance category but lost on both occasions, describing his lack of accolades as an insult.

“That was a way for them to tap me on the back like, ‘We see you,’ but it is quite an insult for someone like me to be around now, and no award has been given to me. Because this is Obibini we are talking about. I am the Shakespeare of this thing,” he added.
