Following her sentencing to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretences, the husband of Evangelist Patricia Aseidua, aka Nana Agradaa has expressed his frustration with the sentence.

Agradaa was sentenced on July 3, 2025, by an Accra Circuit Court after a pregnancy test was conducted.

Following her sentence, her husband, Angel Asiamah, was spotted talking to the press as he made his way to his car from the courtroom.

He said he was still surprised by the complaints which started the entire case but brushed it off as a trial which affects people chosen by God.

“They came to the all-night service hoping that she would double their money for them, which does not make sense because we go to church; we give offertory. So how can you expect double of it that night?

“But I’m not surprised; this is one of the tribulations that servants of God face. So many servants of God in the Bible have been through trials. Even our great leaders have been through one tribulation or another. After this, her blessings will be bigger,” he said.

Asked if Agradaa’s church, Heavenway International, would still hold services as usual, he was affirmative.

“The church will still go on. I’m a pastor; there are other pastors in the church. But all this is not a problem; 15 years in prison is not any news,” he said.

    Background

The Ghana Police Service arrested repented fetish priestess Nana Agradaa, now known as Evangelist Mama Pat, on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

“The Police have arrested Patricia Asiedua alias Nana Agradaa following allegations of money-doubling scam leveled against her by some members of the public. The suspect is currently assisting police investigation,” a statement from the police said.

Nana Agradaa’s arrest came on the back of allegations made by scores of her church members, who claimed that she had scammed them after an all-night service.

The former fetish priestess had advertised in a viral video that she was going to give out money to people who would attend her all-night church service on Friday, October 7, 2022.

Things, however, did not go as planned for many of the people who attended the service, as many of them cried foul that they had given out monies to her but she failed to keep to her side of the agreement.

She was eventually reported to have sent the people away from the church, prompting the alarms they raised online.

The police then asked anyone who had been affected by the alleged scam to report to the Accra Regional Police Command to assist with the investigations.
