Ghanaian gospel artiste Perez Musik has asserted that Ghana’s churches have the capacity to eliminate poverty in their communities if they choose to.
During an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz show on October 27, 2025, he gave an example, noting that many of Ghana’s secondary schools were once established by churches.
“I believe the church can, if the church wants to, because the church has done it before. Most of the secondary schools you see in this country were owned by the churches.
“They didn’t even have the amount of access and wealth and capacity that some of the churches have now,” he said.

He acknowledged that some churches are already active in charitable work and scholarship programmes but wondered why some others remained idle.
“As to why some other people are not doing it, I can’t really tell.
“If you enter into every community, there are about 10 churches, every area you go. If the church decides to affect just its immediate surrounding.” he noted.
Perez Musik, however, gave a defense, stating that rising costs in running church operations now also add to the challenge.
