The board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) have been petitioned by the management of King Paluta for not nominating his song ‘Makoma’.

In a petition filed on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Paluta’s management sought explanations for why the song did not earn any nomination in the 26th TGMA.

They indicated that the song was duly submitted for consideration—and they also believe it remains Ghana’s most popular song released in the year under review.

According to the management, ‘Makoma’ was filed in Most Popular Song, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year and Songwriter of the Year categories.

“This concern has become necessary after the team realized none of the categories we submitted the said material for was considered after the official nominees announcement.

“We believe in the competence of the TGMA board and trust that a convincing reason be issued to our team, music enthusiasts and general public on this unpopular decision of the board!” they said.

“We are confident that ‘Makoma’ breaches no moral or ethical requirement of the board and will be ready to engage for possible consideration of the song in the categories submitted for earlier,” King Paluta’s management concluded.

Their concern comes after the nominees for the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) were unveiled at the Accra International Conference Center on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
