Tension flared in Accra when boxers Savoy Gad and Eliasu Sulley nearly came to blows during the signing of their fight contracts with promoter Mitch Gilbert Woollams ahead of their upcoming title clash.

The heated moment occurred shortly after both fighters signed their contracts for the vacant WABA Supreme Global Super Middleweight Championship. Gad reportedly expressed interest in holding the championship belt that was on display during the ceremony, a move that angered Sulley and briefly sparked a confrontation between the two rivals.

The pair will now settle their differences in the ring on April 4, Easter Day, when they meet in a highly anticipated bout at the Aborigine Beach Resort Club in Keta.

Promoter Woollams has secured exclusive rights to stage the country’s first vacant WABA Supreme Championship bouts. Other fights on the card will include Beninese boxer Justin Hounkpevi against Ghana’s Abubak Mubarak.

The event will also honour legendary Ghanaian boxer Azumah Nelson and is expected to attract several high-profile figures from the boxing world.
