Teenage Ghanaian sprinter Gladys Boateng, popularly known as Gaza, has expressed joy after winning her first international medal for Ghana at the ongoing African Athletics Championships.
Boateng was part of Ghana’s women’s 4x100m relay team that secured bronze in the final after a determined performance against some of the continent’s top sprint nations.
Speaking after the race, the teenager admitted the team had doubts about finishing on the podium but was grateful to end the competition with a medal.
“We were not confident of winning a medal, but we are glad we won, and we give thanks to God,” she said.
The bronze medal marks a major milestone in Boateng’s young career and highlights her growing importance in Ghana’s sprint team.
