Ghanaian-born Spanish sensation Taufik Seidu has expressed joy after making his La Liga debut for Atlético Madrid, describing the moment as a dream come true despite his side’s 2-1 defeat to FC Barcelona.

The 18-year-old came on in the 68th minute to replace Clément Lenglet, marking his first appearance in Spain’s topflight and a major milestone in his young career.

Speaking after the game, Seidu admitted it was a special moment for him, even though the result did not go in their favour.

“A very happy day for me, although we couldn’t get the three points. The work of the team was impressive,” he told Sporty TV.

The midfielder also highlighted the atmosphere and the significance of making his debut against one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“It is an incredible feeling to make my debut in front of the fans against Barcelona. The atmosphere was incredible. It’s a pity we couldn’t get three points, but we have to keep going because special things are coming.”

Seidu further reflected on the team’s performance and what they must improve going forward.

“The team did a very good match, but the red card was bad for us. We learned a lot of things from this match, and we have to improve for the upcoming clash against Barcelona in the Champions League.”

He concluded by sharing his personal journey and what the moment means to him.

“I always dreamed of playing for big teams like Atletico Madrid, and today I am fulfilling that dream. I am very happy. I was born in Ghana and moved when I was young, and this moment means a lot to me.”

Born in Ghana but raised in Spain, the youngster remains eligible to represent the Black Stars, with the Ghana Football Association reportedly keen on securing his international future.

His La Liga debut is seen as a significant milestone, and Seidu will now hope to build on this opportunity as he continues his development with Atletico Madrid.
