WBA light flyweight champion Kyosuke Takami (10-0, 8 KOs) showed a public workout on Friday and predicted an early knockout victory over WBO counterpart Rene Santiago in a highly anticipated unification bout here on December 17.
Takami, 23, is such an enfant terrible that he impressively dethroned previously unbeaten champ Erik Rosa via tenth round stoppage this July. Teiken Promotions dared to book the young titlist in his initial defense against Santiago (14-4, 9 KOs) who recently wrested the WBO belt from his stablemate Shokichi Iwata on points last March. The big talker 5’6” Kyosuke, rather taller as a light fly, baldly predicted a knockout win within four rounds over the more experienced Rene before he outgrows the 108-pound category. Time will tell.
