Music executive, Kwesi Ernest

Artiste manager and founding member of the gospel music advocacy group, Table of Men, Kwesi Ernest has lashed out at some gospel musicians with what he describes as a total disregard for leadership in the music industry.

In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie on May 5, 2025, Kwesi Ernest noted that the Table of Men is not just a group that gospel musicians can disrespect.

He emphasised that musicians, especially gospel musicians, should respect the leadership within the music industry.

“The Table of Men did not ignore any gospel artiste, as speculated in the media. What we are saying as an entity or a pressure group is that any artiste who gets nominations and believes that the influence of Table of Men can help them get votes and improve their chances of being clear for the awards, we will make ourselves available and open our doors to support that entity.

“This year we have seen several artistes with all their leverage across the world appointing PRs to support their course for their awards. Is it not beautiful for any gospel artiste to also do the same thing? This is what we are calling for. We need to allow our artistes to respect and appreciate leadership. We are not verandah boys that anybody can just throw us about especially by any artiste who gets nominations,” he said.

Addressing allegations levelled against him by MC Yaa Yeboah that the group has been playing favourites with the gospel artistes it chooses to support, Kwesi Ernest noted that the group was created to support every urban gospel musician.

“There is no basis or favoritism in the Table of Men. When we first started, some people thought we established the organisation to purposely push gospel urban artistes… As I am talking to you my artiste is ACP Kofi Sarpong and he is a contemporary gospel artiste for that matter so do you think I would be part of an entity that would set up an agenda against Kofi Sarpong?… The Table of Men was established to support and kill a lot of injustices that are happening against gospel artistes,” he added.

The Table of Men has a strong track record of advocating for gospel artistes in major award categories, having previously championed acts like Diana Hamilton, and Piesie Esther.

Despite the 2024 miscommunication, Nacee had a highly successful year, earning several nominations and ultimately winning multiple awards, including ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the 2024 Ghana Music Awards.
