A thief who stole more than £5,000 worth of chocolate bars from supermarkets across Britain has been jailed.
Ionit Rova, 20, toured the country on a chocolate-fuelled heist stealing from nine Tesco stores and one Aldi.
The sweet-toothed thief from Harrow, west London, was jailed for 10 weeks at Reading Magistrates’ Court on February 17.
Rova was told by magistrates it would have been 45 weeks if he hadn’t admitted his crimes were chocolate-based.
Between August last year and January, Rova stole from Tesco stores in Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Rutland and Surrey and an Aldi store in Berkshire.
Magistrates heard the spree began on August 20, when he stole £800 worth of items from Tesco in Daventry, Northamptonshire.
The following month, he stole £800 worth of items from Tesco in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, and three days later took £600 worth of chocolate from another Tesco in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire.
On October 15, Rova shoplifted £500 worth of confectionery from Tesco in Faringdon, Oxfordshire and on Halloween stole £400 worth of chocolate, the holiday’s staple, from Tesco in Warfield, Berkshire.

His next hit was on November 13, he took £600 of items from Tesco in Swaffham, Norfolk, and on the same day, £300 worth of items from a Tesco store in Dereham, Norfolk.
On November 25, Rova stole £502.50 worth of items from a Tesco in Leatherhead, Surrey.
He struck another Tesco in Oakham, Rutland, on December 2, taking £672 worth of items.
His final hit was on January 18, when he stole £238.14 worth of items from Aldi in Wokingham, Berkshire.
