Individuals involved in the attack on staff of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition on January 15, 2026, have been identified and arrested, according to a report by citinewsroom.com.

The report clarifies that the suspects are neither national security operatives nor officers of the Ghana Police Service, contrary to earlier reports circulating in the media.

This clarification follows initial claims suggesting that personnel of the Ghana Police Service assaulted ministry staff after an altercation involving an official ministry bus.

Staff of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition were allegedly assaulted by uniformed individuals earlier suspected to be police officers while on official duty, following an incident involving a ministry vehicle on January 15, 2026.

The incident occurred when a Toyota Civilian bus, with registration number GV-11, conveying ministry staff, was intercepted by individuals travelling in a black pick-up vehicle.

According to eyewitness accounts, the individuals crossed the ministry vehicle and ordered the driver to step out without providing any explanation.

A video circulating on social media shows that before the driver could respond, one of the men wearing a striped polo shirt slapped the driver while he was still seated behind the steering wheel.

The individual was further seen mounting the vehicle and attempting to forcibly drag the driver out, with other occupants of the bus present.

The incident reportedly left the occupants shocked and distressed, as they claimed there was no provocation or prior confrontation that warranted such actions.
