Emergency services are responding to a suspected shark attack at Sorrento Beach in Perth‘s north-west.
Three ambulance crews were called to the scene at 10.15am on Friday.
No details about the patient are available and ambulance crews have since been stood down.
Other emergency responders, including water police and the Police Air Wing remain at the scene.
Surf Life Saving WA reported a shark interaction in the area at 10.20am.
The species of shark is currently not known.
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has launched an investigation.
‘DPIRD is working with local authorities, and further information will be provided as it becomes available,’ a statement read.

Sorrento Beach has since been closed and people in the area are advised to take caution.
It is the second shark attack in Western Australia this week.
Mel Ismail, 56, was surfing alone at Geraldton’s Glenfield Beach on Monday when the shark bit into his leg and board 40m from shore.
It is understood the off-duty firefighter lost his foot in the attack
