Ghanaian rapper Strongman, known in private life as Osei Kwaku Vincent, says he has no interest in forcing himself into music trends that do not reflect his character or real-life experiences—particularly the increasingly popular “scammer rap” genre embraced by some young artists.

In an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, Strongman emphasised that authenticity remains the foundation of his music, and he refuses to rap about themes such as fraud, drugs, or street life simply because they are trending.

“Some songs reflect who I really am, but there are others that don’t,” he said. “As a musician, some things must be experienced first-hand. When that happens, it becomes easier to sing about them.”

He explained that trying to rap about fraud or drug culture would sound “funny and fake” because he has never lived that lifestyle. Strongman noted that he can now rap comfortably about parties since his friends occasionally bring him into those settings, but certain subjects remain off-limits.

“When it comes to hate or love songs, I do them well because that is my lifestyle. But when it comes to scamming, weed, and the rest, I don’t do them well,” he added.

Strongman also highlighted the influence of his social circle on the music he creates. According to him, the people closest to him live calm, disciplined lives and do not even drink alcohol, making it unlikely for him to be exposed to certain habits or environments.

“My circle is full of gentle people who don’t even drink alcohol, so they won’t expose me to certain things for me to rap about them,” he said.
