“Father, I have been jailed. I went to court and was given a 1-year sentence. They were supposed to transfer me to prison, but I have been told it will be on Monday. I will be taken to the Nsawam prison,” Strika has reportedly said.
The actor was also said to have expressed regret over his past actions and appealed to Gunshot and his associate for assistance amid his current predicament.
This development follows a video that surfaced on social media on August 29, 2026, showing residents allegedly confronting Strika at the Kwashieman footbridge.
In the footage, the actor was reportedly seen around the footbridge as residents confronted him over allegations that he was cutting off metal railings, reportedly to sell them as scrap.
The video quickly spread online, leaving many Ghanaians and movie lovers concerned about the circumstances surrounding the actor’s life.
Strika’s story has been particularly painful for many because of how dramatically his life reportedly changed after his breakthrough in Beasts of No Nation.
As a young actor, he gained international recognition for his portrayal of Strika, a mute child soldier in the critically acclaimed movie.
However, his life after the movie has been characterised by several reports about struggles with education, accommodation, employment and finances.
In April 2026, he was reportedly spotted working as a security guard in Accra, while earlier reports had also highlighted his difficult living conditions and struggles to establish himself after his childhood fame.
There have also been long-running controversies surrounding money allegedly connected to his role in Beasts of No Nation, with Strika previously claiming that he never received the reported $30,000 associated with his participation in the movie.
