Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has expressed dissatisfaction with what he describes as the growing trend of insults in Ghana’s political arena.

In a post on X on February 27, 2025, the actor pointed out that the ongoing insults and division in Ghana’s politics are damaging the country’s democracy.

Buttressing his points, he recalled how some of the country’s leaders even stay unbothered while some Ghanaians constantly denigrated former President Akufo-Addo during his administration.

“What the hell has happened to our beautiful Ghana? The damned polarisation is tearing our democracy to shreds. Dang, it crushes my heart to see our people sinking into the quagmire of political insults and intolerance!

“In the last administration, folks took it upon themselves to tarnish the ex-president and anyone who dared to voice an opinion. Our sullen parents, religious leaders, and so-called state elders not only stayed quiet but applauded those sons of guns who created derogatory YouTube channels just to make people feel like crap,” he said.

He also referenced a recent incident where some Ghanaians, particularly members of the New Patriotic Party, insulted President John Dramani Mahama while he was delivering the 2025 State of the Nation Address on February 27, 2025.

“I believed this bs would end. But watching SONA 2025 on UTV live on Facebook nearly broke my heart. Sure, I don’t agree with everything President Mahama and the NDC say or do. I don’t need to wish them ill or hate anyone because Ghana is our home, all of us!

“But these lads, using foul language against the president… is unacceptable. Can’t UTV even moderate these live comments? I admit, I might have messed up in the past, for which I am remorseful. But this isn’t good for Ghana or our youth,” he added.

He further expressed disappointment in some media houses in the country that have given some individuals the opportunity to publicly insult leaders.
