Veteran Ghanaian gospel musician Grace Ashly has expressed disappointment over what she termed the rise of “cartels” within the gospel music scene.

During an interview with bloggers on October 2, 2025, to celebrate her 25 years in music, she urged her fellow gospel artistes to prioritize love and unity rather than forming cliques that divide the industry.

“We should be real. Many gospel musicians fake for the camera. If you love me, love me. Don’t pretend to love your colleagues on camera and hate them in private,” she said.

According to Grace Ashly, some groups of musicians only support projects from those within their circle, sidelining others.

“I have seen that some gospel musicians have formed cartels. And are dictating what should happen in the industry.

“When a musician has a project, they will come and support, but when another musician not in their group has a project, none of them will show up,” she lamented.

‘The creative industry is fake, there is a cabal running it’ – Obibini

She emphasised that gospel musicians, as Christians, should reflect true love and solidarity.

“Once we are in the industry, you must learn to love yourselves just as Christianity dictates. So I urge them to love each other… When I hear about divisions within the industry, it hurts me,” she added.
