Ghanaian singer Akosua Agyapong has advised parents to avoid pushing their children into careers they have no passion for.

Speaking in an interview on Adom TV on July 27, 2025, Akosua Agyapong mentioned that some people are not in talking terms with their mothers due to the things their mothers made them do which is affecting them in future.

“Many people don’t associate with their mothers because of the things the mothers made them do which affected their future. Just pray that, you can push your children to do what they can do best” she said.

She continued, “Whether football, music or acting, help the child achieve that. Don’t compare him/her to someone and tell the child to be like someone.”

According to Akosua Agyapong, she has been doing music for 35 years and two of her children decided to follow her footsteps.

“I’ve been in music for 35 years and two of my children are musicians; they will be coming out soon. I never told them to do music, they chose that for themselves and they have their careers alongside.”

She added , “I’m pleading, don’t push your daughter or your son to do what they don’t want to do.”
