A spokesperson on creative arts for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Rex Omar has noted that politicians do not take creatives in Ghana seriously because they demand money for everything they do.

According to him, it is about time creative people in Ghana who have declared their support for particular political parties learn to sacrifice to ensure that they bring their political parties to power.

Rex Omar was speaking on Accra-based United Television and responding to how much they were paid for organizing the NDC meeting with creatives in Kumasi when he made this known.

“If we want politicians to take us seriously in Ghana…any time we get to the political season, whatever creatives do, they want to be paid. If they produce music, they want to be paid; if they do something for the party, they want to be paid.

“But if that is what we will do, then what is our contribution to whatever political party we are a part of? The politicians who are campaigning are using their own money to fund their campaigns.

“If you want to come to power it takes some sacrifices and effort so the event we organized no one gave us any money. We brought people from Accra to the event. We brought people from Sunyani and other places. It was through the organization that H.E John Mahama respected our effort and came to speak at the event,” he said.
