Stonebwoy has reflected on his connection with Angélique Kidjo after the French-Beninese music legend made history as the first African singer to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Kidjo was honoured on August 18, 2026, becoming the 2,854th recipient in the Recording category. The recognition adds to a career that has earned her five Grammy Awards and established her as one of Africa’s most influential voices on the global music scene.
The milestone also prompted a personal reaction from Stonebwoy, who took to X to celebrate his relationship with the celebrated musician.
The Ghanaian artiste said sharing a stage with Kidjo at the Royal Albert Hall in the United Kingdom remains a moment that is difficult to fully grasp.
“To make music with the first African woman to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To call her Africa Mama. To perform with her as a special guest on her 40th at the Royal Albert Hall,” he wrote.

Stonebwoy also highlighted the special bond he shares with Kidjo, describing her as his godmother in the music industry.
He said he feels particularly fortunate to have such an accomplished figure not only in his corner but also featured on a song with him.
