Entertainment pundit MC Portfolio has expressed concerns over being labeled a “traitor” by fans of dancehall musicians Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale.
In an interview with Zionfelix on January 21, 2025, MC Portfolio stated that Stonebwoy has no authority to restrict his association with Shatta Wale unless he employs him.
When asked by Zionfelix if he would honour an invitation from Shatta Wale, MC Portfolio explained that the “Jejereje” hitmaker could only impose restrictions if he had hired him as a full-time member of his team.
“I think Stonebwoy can restrict me only if he puts me on his payroll and employs me as someone tasked with promoting the Bhim Nation agenda. But I have volunteered because that gentleman has shown me love. So, it’s not about money. I have volunteered to reciprocate the same energy. He hasn’t put me on payroll, and I don’t work for Bhim Nation,” he stated.
MC Portfolio also revealed that he regretted portraying himself as a dedicated member of Stonebwoy’s camp.
“If I knew then what I know now, I would have done things differently. I was overwhelmed by the excitement of what Stonebwoy was doing for me, which led me to declare myself a Bhim Native, not realizing it came with so much responsibility. I’m not even supposed to interact with Wale. I’m a journalist, and we know Shatta Wale recently performed in Jamaica, but if I discuss this on the radio, they’ll consider it a violation of the Bhim Nation allegiance,” he added.

MC Portfolio’s loyalty was recently tested when he encountered Shatta Wale face-to-face.
After a period of publicly criticising Shatta Wale, particularly on social media, MC Portfolio found himself in a complex situation during a live TV broadcast of the Fakye Showbiz program.
In an unexpected turn of events, Shatta Wale handed MC Portfolio GH¢5,000 live on air.
MC Portfolio reacted with a mix of shock, confusion, and excitement. Although he initially questioned why Shatta was giving him the money, he eventually accepted it.
The Aftermath
This development sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry. Many, including Stonebwoy’s close associates, criticised MC Portfolio for accepting money from Shatta Wale, viewing it as an act of disloyalty.
Some claimed that Shatta Wale had cleverly used the public gesture to drive a wedge between Stonebwoy and one of his prominent supporters.
DJ Slim, a key figure in Stonebwoy’s camp, voiced his disappointment during his Street Is Watching podcast.
He stated that, as a recognized member of Stonebwoy’s camp, MC Portfolio should have refused the money from Shatta Wale.
DJ Slim also highlighted MC Portfolio’s apparent change in behavior while interacting with Shatta Wale, citing his body language as evidence of betrayal.
Additionally, he criticised the timing of the gift, questioning why Shatta Wale chose to give the money publicly rather than in private.
