Veteran gospel musician, Kwabena Asante

Veteran gospel musician, Kwabena Asante, has opened up on the daunting challenges he faced throughout his over two-decade-long career, including a life-threatening attack that led him to take a break from the music industry.

In an interview with Asempa FM, he shared the harrowing experiences that prompted his temporary withdrawal from the limelight.

He disclosed that he felt compelled to step away from music after enduring a series of unsettling incidents.

“At a point, I had to stop music. Something told me to take a break. I was facing a lot of attacks in the course of my work,” he explained.

One particularly terrifying incident, he recounted, involved an attempted assault.

Kwabena Asante recalled being followed by a suspicious vehicle while riding in a car with a prominent radio presenter.

“We were confused, so we stopped and decided to confront the driver of the other car. Before we knew it, the driver was approaching me with a screwdriver, intending to stab me.

“He only stopped when he saw my face and explained that he was looking for someone, and I looked like that person,” he said.

The gospel musician said this frightening experience was one of the key reasons he chose to step back from the public eye.

Reflecting on the pressures of fame, he emphasized that stardom comes with its own set of challenges.

“Stardom is not an easy thing. You reach a point where everyone is calling you, everyone wants your attention, and everyone wants you to listen to them. But who do you pay attention to? It’s not easy,” he said.
