    Sports journalist Collins Atta Poku has expressed disapproval of the attack on the Ashanti Regional office of the National Sports Authority by some individuals believed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress.

    Speaking on Sompa FM, the ace journalist expressed concern about the recurring issue during the country’s transitional phase.

    While acknowledging the culpability of both the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress for the problem of alleged party supporters attacking state institutions after a change of government, Atta Poku believes that a nationalistic conversation should be held to address the issue.

    He mentioned an incident where some members of the New Patriotic Party were upset with GFA boss Kurt Okraku for allowing Sharaf Mahama access to the Black Stars’ dressing room during the AFCON qualifier against Angola.

    “I was in the US, and someone called me. After the match against Angola in Kumasi, which we lost, some NPP people were angry with Kurt Okraku. Their anger stems from the fact that Sharaf Mahama was granted access to the Black Stars dressing room to take pictures with the players,” he explained.

    The Black Stars’ 1-0 loss to Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was their first defeat at the venue in many years, causing outrage among Ghanaians.

    Unfortunately, the team’s performance did not improve, resulting in losses and draws in their subsequent games, leading to their failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.
