Social media users have been airing their views on the conviction of a Russian model by a court in the Costa del Sol capital of Malaga.
The model, Luisa Kremleva, accused French footballer Theo Hernandez of rape in 2017.
During the hearing of the case, it came to light that Luisa Kremleva falsely accused the AC Milan defender.
After eight years of litigation, the Spanish court convicted her of making a false claim against the footballer and handed her a six-month suspended sentence.
She was also fined £1,500 after agreeing to a plea bargain deal with public prosecutors and admitting to perjuring herself by accusing French international Hernandez.
On social media, some sports lovers are not happy with the sentence as they believe it is not punitive enough and will not deter others from doing the same.
They are even more angered by the suspended sentence as the model will not serve the sentence unless she commits another crime in the next two years.
Conor McGregor, an American Mixed Martial Arts fighter, tweeted: “If it had gone the other way, the sentence would have been about 10 years for the footballer. The sentences should be replicated if proven to be lies. 6 months for attempting to put a person away for a large portion of their life with lies is NOT ENOUGH!”

should be equal punishment to what he would have got if it was true

6 months in prison is not enough for the model. He actually could be sitting in jail right now for as much as 13 YEARS if the model successfully got through with it.
She should be sentenced equivalent to that.

Another valid reason why I stopped jumping on the rape accusation bandwagon.
Just 6 months and her identity is still protected. It should be her face showing here https://t.co/YQo6VDxB6k

False rape accusations should attract the same (or at least closely similar) punishment
Rape is a terrible crime, and it should rightly not be taken lightly
So falsely accusing someone of rape should not be taken lightly either https://t.co/vIapR5jeyD— Star Lord ✨ (@_AstroNerd) January 10, 2025
6 months is a slap on the wrist for such a serious false accusation!! https://t.co/LtmnKrZIkG

Absolute bullshit. If someone falsely accuses someone of a serious crime like r*pe and ruins his reputation, then that person should serve the same amount of time the accusee would’ve gotten if he was found guilty. Highly doubt it was 6 months. https://t.co/0USqJPDbqn

Why 6 months?? False accusers and rapist should share same time please….. https://t.co/YTpEUiLyOZ

6 months is a slap on the wrist for accusing someone falsely. If the roles were reversed , we’re looking at 10 years and above. Surely the Judge and Jury know this? 😒 https://t.co/OOgqubvcLs
