Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has advised young couples on how to handle matters that arise in their relationships.

According to a post shared by lifeissuesmag on Instagram on Friday, September 5, 2025, the veteran actress urged young couples to, as much as possible, avoid sharing their challenges with others, especially on social media.

“No matter what, don’t bring your marital issues online; it’s a mistake that is very hard to correct! When you air your fights, like some celebrities do, it invites strangers to judge and twist your story,” she is quoted as saying.

Omotola said that people vent on social media thinking it will help them, but it does not, adding that she had learned this lesson the hard way.

“My spouse and I argued, and I vented online, thinking it would help. Instead, the comments tore us apart, fueled rumours, and stressed me out.”

She explained that marriages naturally come with ups and downs, misunderstandings, trust issues, and even thoughts of divorce, but airing them online only makes matters worse. “Posting them is like pouring fuel on fire. It scars your relationship and messes with your mind long-term. Just look at celebrity breakups—online drama only makes things worse.”

Omotola advised couples to resolve issues privately. “The solution is to talk face-to-face. Be honest, listen, and work through the pain privately. If it’s tough, get a counsellor, not a keyboard. Protect your marriage and your peace. Keep it off the internet.”
